Florence

This is our hostel, Archi Rossi, not bad for 17 euros in Florence.
We walked all day today around the city. We really enjoyed the sites. Tonya trying to get a drink from this guy she met.
We get a breakfast at our hostel every morning included in our price. We all got eggs, MMM
We have 6 girls in our dorm room and Tonya and I both have the top bunks.
I saw some pretty pictures of scenery here that I thought I might buy if it was the right price. It was not!
They have gilatto and pastry shops on almost every corner. We had to try some out.
When we went to the museum to see the real David, they said no pictures. Well, I got one I will have to share later but for now here is a copy at a park in the city.
This is the park way up on a hill that you can climb and see everything. It was so beautiful, I think it was our favorite place here.
This castle was on our way up to the park.
Tom took this picture from down below.
On our trek to the park we stopped for many pictures.
This square was filled with shops and a merry go round, a very fun place.
This was as you leave the museum with the David statue. Since we could not get a picture inside we did the best we could.
They had tons of churches and squares, this is another one.
An old building as we started our tour.
They had carriages people could rent, I could not help myself I just love horses.
This was on a walking tour we took. It is the longest certain kind of arch bridge that the Germans blew up and they repaired it with the original rocks they found in the water.
Another building, there is so much to see.
A huge Duomo close to our hostel. It helped us get where we want to go because when we see it we know where we are on the map.
This was us at 8:30AM just starting to look around the city.
This was an inside courtyard of one of the palaces we saw on our walking tour. The business was done on the main level and the main living on the second, and the women and children stayed on the third floor where the kitchens were. The fire danger kept the kitchens up there and the wars and danger kept the rich women inside so they needed a place to get some air inside their homes. It was very interesting history.
This is at our hostel as we go into our dorm room.

Boston First

I left for my trip to Italy and had a stop in Boston. By the time I got in and the kids picked me up my plane was cancelled to Rome and I had to get a flight through Swiss air that was about 7 hours later. Since we had plenty of time they took me around Harvard and their house and we had a pizza dinner and a wonderful yogurt fruit dessert. This is a picture on campus where they have graduation on the old commons ground.
This is a statue that everyone rubs the foot for luck; that is why it is so shiny. There are 3 lies about the statue. First, they have no pictures of the guy and do not know what he looks like, second the date is wrong, and third, it is rumored that people use the restroom on his foot. Yuck, they told me after I had my hand up there.
The kids got me in a zip car and I am so glad. The airport was tricky enough getting around but Boston is crazy for those that do not know the area.
