Rabinal, a new bed, and the eclipse

Alan helping out a local lady; he pushed her cart up a hill for her.
Walking home from visiting some members and liked this picture.
Went to the catholic church to look for a van from Chirum, the driver might have molasses for us, maybe next week.
This van had a bunch of people and vegetables inside and on top.
We went to the capital and got our car oil and lubed, went to the temple, played with the Normans, had our teeth cleaned, and bought a new bed. Good thing it was in plastic because it poured rain most of our 6 hour trip home to Rabinal. Part of it was damp but we got to sleep on it that night.
Jamie and 2 of her children watching the eclipse in North SL.

Marimba and Baptisms in Fray

Augusto Jeronimo playing one of his marimbas for us at his house in Rabinal.
The hotel we stayed in when we went to Fray for the first baptisms there in 25-30 years.

12 were baptized today, 3 boys, 6 girls, and 3 women.
We had about 60 people there.
13, 15, and 10 year old girls that were baptized.
We ate chicken, beans, pasta, and tortillas, and a great orange tasting drink. I brought brownies for dessert.

Cake and Baptism of Juan

Jakeline and Yulissa helped make cake and cupcakes.
 Frosting
 Waiting- they are SO excited!
And ... they're done. We took 12 cupcakes to their house and took the cake to Cubulco for a baptism.
Members and investigators of Cubulco at Juan's baptism. 50 people there to eat chicken, rice, tortillas, and cake.
Juan with Elder Enamorado and Zabala.
Had to do it twice because his arm didn't go under. The kids swam and played ball while the women cooked and talked.
Gave everyone a piece of cake, they loved it.
Rosa has a birthday 22 of Aug and wants me to make a big cake for it. I'll see what I can do!

Cubulco and new huipil

Our district went over to Maria Rodriguez house for lunch. She fixed us 8 missionaries beef, salsa, rice, tortillas, and pop. It was delicious, tough meat but it had a great flavor. She always feeds the missionaries and they love her food.
We had noche de hermanamiento at Bacillio's house. It began to rain REALLY hard and the water came into the patio and got us all wet.
I even dropped my phone into the water and now it kind of works.
When we went to visit Juan Ruiz, an 86 year old member. His daughter gave me this huipil (guatemalan blouse) to thank us for getting some water beds for him to sleep on. Elvira did the crochet work.
Gladys and Olga, 2 more of his daughters that live there.

Coban and Fray visit

As we drove to Coban there was a rainbow on the mountains near Salama.
This is the countryside near Fray Bartolomeo de las casas, they have lots of pineapple, bananas, rubber trees, corn, and coffee trees. Alan got carsick on the way because of the hills and curves together.
A river where the baptisms might take place in 2 weeks.
They have 14 people ready to baptize, we are hoping for double that amount!?
Pres and sister Faundez from Santiago, Chile.
After church we ate at a member's house with her 2 daughters and grandchildren. Chicken, beef, rice, salsa, beans, tortillas, home-made cheese; it was SO good and they were SO sweet to feed 4 hungry missionaries and 5 visiting travelers!

Coban trip and Cubulco Baptism

We left early Wednesday morning for Coban, these clouds lay on the mountains so beautifully!
When we came home that night there was an accident between 2 trucks. They crashed and 1 fell off the road to the road below and burned.
It was hard to pass both accidents but we made it home by 8:30pm.
Saturday we went to Cubulco and had a baptism in the river. We all crossed this plank to witness it.
Everyone but me in the picture.

Elder Zabal and Hendy Xiomara Lopez Teletor, Elder Enamorado.

The youth played soccer and we drank pop and ate crackers until 1:00 and then went home.
