Fixing the house

Studs up for our bedroom and hall in the basement.
Sheet rock up for the bedroom and tomorrow they tape and texture it all.
We cut these railroad ties for stairs from the garage to the backyard. It comes down where the shop is going in.
The leveled area for our 18X24 foot shop.
Got this futon bunk used today for our grandkids to sleep on.

Louisa May Alcott and Battle Road

We went to see the Orchard House Museum; Louisa May Alcott wrote Little Women in.

This is a map of battle road, which is where the shot heard round the world started the Revolutionary War in 1775. Red Coats marched toward Concord to take guns from the militia but were met with men who heard about the shots in Boston and were ready to fight back.
Visitor's center at North Bridge where the first British soldiers died.
You can see the bridge where the Colonists and Red Coats faced each other. The Red Coats turned and fled back towards Boston but were ambushed all the way back to Boston by the Colonists. About 100 British died and 49 Americans died.
We watched a 20 minute video of what happened on this day to start our country out towards independence from Britain. I love history and loved seeing Lexington Road where all of this happened, between Boston and Concord, MA.

Fire and Children's Museum in Boston

An old fire truck at the fire department museum; we even got a fire hat.
How the hydrants have changed through the years.
We ate pasta, salad, and garlic bread outside the Children's Museum.
Playing with the balls.
 Playing and making bubbles.

Walden's Pond and Backyard Fun

Today we went about 20 minutes to Concord and went to Walden's Pond.
We got into the water and played in the sand for about 2 hours.
I went all the way around the pond, about 2 miles, and saw the site of Thoreau's little cabin in the woods.
 We played some frisbee.
This is the trail that goes all the way around.
That evening we played in the backyard.

Fun times!

Mini Call Reunion

We took the grandkids out on the 4 wheelers, they loved it!
We went to the city pool and it was a blast; they even had a pretty cool water slide there!
We had 24 of the family there and had wonderful food mostly thanks to Grammy. We got to talk to family, play games, go 4 wheeling and swimming in our freezing pool. Thanks for coming everyone, we loved it and can't wait for the next get-together!
Sunday we went to church, had a great lunch at Grammy and Grandpa's house and then had to say good-bye for now. Love you bunches family!

More Work Done

The ugly joists on the patio were a bird magnet. They nested and roosted there and made big messes on the patio cement.
 An example of their messes!
Finished and it looks so much better. The birds keep flying in and out wondering where their perch went.
Even had time to put togehter a 1,000 piece lighthouse puzzle.
And the pool is up!

Home Improvements

We got all the flooring in the basement down. It is so much better than the cement floors that were there!
I put this pine swing together, we love it.
Last night Alan put these LED rope lights on the patio. Lookin' good!
